Course Description:

This online Aviation Security Training 11.2.6 & 11.2.6.2 course is designed to enhance security awareness and competency among aviation personnel, supporting a robust security culture in the aviation sector. The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete and is essential for all personnel other than passengers requiring unescorted access to security restricted areas. Upon successful completion, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively understand, recognize, and respond to security-related concerns and potential threats within the aviation domain.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants completing this course will gain competence in the following areas:

  • Historical and Current Threat Awareness: Understand previous acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation, terrorist activities, and the latest security threats facing the aviation industry.
  • Legal Framework and Security Culture: Awareness of relevant legal requirements and foundational knowledge of the elements contributing to a secure workplace, with a focus on insider threats, radicalization, and establishing a resilient security culture.
  • Aviation Security Structure: Knowledge of the objectives and organizational aspects of aviation security, including roles, responsibilities, and obligations of individuals tasked with implementing security controls.
  • Screening Checkpoint Knowledge: Insight into the configuration of screening checkpoints and a comprehensive understanding of the screening process.
  • Access Control Procedures: Awareness of access control methods and the associated screening procedures for authorized personnel and sensitive areas.
  • Airport Identification: Familiarity with the identification cards used within airport premises and the role they play in securing restricted areas.
  • Incident Reporting Protocols: Understanding of standard procedures for reporting security incidents or suspicious activities.
  • Response Preparedness: Ability to appropriately respond to various security-related incidents in alignment with established protocols.


Course Assessment:

At the end of the course, participants will take an assessment requiring a minimum score of 85% to pass. A certificate of completion will be automatically generated for participants who meet or exceed this passing score, providing formal recognition of their enhanced competencies in aviation security.


This course meets European Commission EC (EU) 2015/1998 aviation security standards as well as the requirements set out in Ireland’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and serves as an essential foundation for maintaining a secure and resilient airport environment.
