Course Title: 11.2.7 & 11.2.3.9 Aviation Security Training Course
Training of persons with unsupervised access to identifiable air cargo and mail to which the required security controls have been applied and persons implementing security controls for air cargo and mail other than screening.
Course Description:
This course provides participants with the knowledge and competencies required to apply aviation security controls to air cargo and mail in accordance with EU Regulation (EC) 300/2008, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, and the Irish National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP). It is designed for personnel involved in securing, handling, preparing, transporting or protecting such items prior to their delivery to the aircraft or restricted areas.
The training focuses on the threats to civil aviation, the legal obligations of regulated entities, and the practical security controls required to maintain the integrity of, air cargo and mail throughout the supply chain. On completion, learners will have the competencies required to perform their duties securely, confidently and in compliance with EU and national requirements.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants who complete this course will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of past acts of unlawful interference, significant terrorist incidents and current threats affecting civil aviation.
- Understanding of applicable legal requirements, and the ability to contribute to a robust aviation security culture, including awareness of insider threats and radicalisation indicators.
- Knowledge of the objectives, structure and organisation of aviation security, and the specific responsibilities of persons implementing security controls.
- Ability to challenge individuals when circumstances require it and understanding of when a person must be challenged or reported.
- Knowledge of internal and external reporting procedures relevant to aviation security incidents or concerns.
- Ability to identify prohibited articles relevant to air cargo and mail.
- Ability to respond appropriately when prohibited articles are detected, including escalation procedures.
- Knowledge of concealment methods used to hide prohibited articles within air cargo and mail.
- Understanding of the protection requirements for air cargo and mail.
- Knowledge of transportation requirements, where applicable, including secure loading, movement, and documentation standards.
Course Assessment:
At the end of the course, participants will take an assessment requiring a minimum score of 85% to pass. A certificate of completion will be automatically generated for participants who meet or exceed this passing score, providing formal recognition of their enhanced competencies in aviation security.
This course meets European Commission EC (EU) 2015/1998 aviation security standards as well as the requirements set out in Ireland’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and serves as an essential foundation for maintaining a secure and resilient airport environment.

Participants must successfully undergo a background check in accordance with NCASP Chapter 11 and EC 2015/1998 requirements before completing this course.
An online training account will be required to access the course.
Learners will only be assigned this training by their nominated Security Manager or Training Manager within the regulated entity.
